Background Information
Julius Caesar lived in ancient Rome. He did many great things in his lifetime. The people, who were impressed with Caesars' accomplishments, wanted him to become king. A senator named Cassius did not want this to happen. During the Feast of Lupercal, a soothsayer approached Caesar and told him to beware the Ides of March. The crowd paid no attention to him. Caesar said "He is a dreamer. Let us leave him. Pass!" and continued the march. Cassius and Brutus stayed behind and discussed whether they should kill Caesar or not. Cassius gathered other members of the senate to eventually together murder Caesar and try to reform the republic.
All of the conspirators in the senate met together in Brutus' orchard. Meanwhile, Caesar's wife, Calpurnia was having bad dreams. She dreamed that Caesar would be killed. She begged him not to go to the Capitol that day, but Caesar decided to go anyway. When Caesar was walking to the Capitol, a man ran up to warn him with a note that told that he was to be murdered. Caesar ended up not taking the note. He passed the old man who said to him "It is the Ides of March." Caesar paid no attention to him and entered the Capitol. Shortly after that, the conspirators grabbed Caesar and stabbed him with repeatedly with knives. The last person to stab Caesar was Brutus. Just before Brutus killed him, Caesar said, "Et tu, Brute?" which means "You to, Brutus?"
Julius Caesar was a powerful Roman figure. His fatal flaw of being too ambitious got him killed by his fellow senators.
